No More Dreams of Happy Endings

Track List:

"No More Dreams..." is the reason why I believe this band transcends the labels put on them. Songs like "The Hangedman" sound more like a sped up version of old Soulstorm tracks than some NYHC band, and I don't think that type of band would cover "Funeral March" (yes, the traditional arrangement) for anything except a joke.

"No More Dreams", which reappears in a live version on Misericordia, is almost as brutal and unrelenting as Godflesh. Yet again, how many HC bands can garner Godflesh comparisons?

"In Memorium" simply has the darkest and most emotional lyrics I've heard without crossing that line into black metal or something like what Trent Reznor would do. Judging by the lyrics on this album, it seems as if the only thing keeping Ken and Mike from offing themselves is this tremendously good band they're in.

"A body lays upon this funeral pyre
as my soul descends I peel back the skin
back on those who feign to mourn

I pray with my dying breath that this is the end

I need an angel, to save me if I sleep
Someone to stop the nails being driven into my heart"
