~   veteran's day

please take a moment today to remember those who died for your freedom, those killed by those defending your freedom, and those who died for nothing... remember the dead and slaughtered in war. let the horror of blood and dismemberment and death sink deep into your bones... let it sink in so deep you refuse to let it happen again.

thank you.

~   lint

an observation: women seem to generate an inordinate amount of lint.

i've only ever shared living space with two women, one a roommate and one who will soon be my wife, but in both situations a curious purple lint would cover the floor... now, this is isn't something that can be seen by the naked eye, but as soon as you break out a mop it begins to accumulate in these long, purple lint-dreadlocks along the edges of the mop.

it is very curious... i've wondered if it has to do not with gender but with a predilection for dark fluffy towels. but i realize that i have that predilection myself and have never noticed the lint. hmmm...!

(well... i think THAT qualifies as the most inane weblog post EVER!)

Today we learned that ADC.com will be featured in a report soon to be released by the Nielsen/Norman Group entitled "Usability Return on Investment." Other featured companies include Macy's, IBM, eBags, Bell Canada, Sun Microsystems, Mastercard and more.

Jakob Nielsen is widely considered the Internet industry's foremost expert on web site usability and has written many books and articles on the topic. This is truly an honor.

i'm exaggerating here, but this is kind of like god telling timmy thirdgrader that he likes his diorama... or maybe it's nothing like that at all, i don't know. what i *do* know is that i feel all giddy because the world's ultimate hardcore usability guy likes a site i designed the information architecture for.

so yeah, that puts me in a good mood... it's one of those occasional nuggets the universe throws you to keep you going, to justify your self-confidence. i appreciate that, universe... thanks. it's like having a really really nice evening, and then someone comes along with a cup of cocoa for you and *boom* it's perfect...
