Hello. Goodness hasn't it been a long long time. The world has been very busy, with much changing and growing and activity. Also, there was a problem with having enough money to develop the hundreds of photos taken over the last year (seriously!).
Eleanor, her Dad and Mom are happily ensconced in Northeast Minneapolis, with decent jobs and plenty of opportunities. Eleanor's 17 months old now and is very active. She started walking in the 12 or 13th month and started climbing (!) sometime in January or so. A few words have come, and she's usually pretty clear in her communication. Mostly she is advanced on the physical and social side and the verbalization is coming along. You should see her interact with people and things, and she runs like mad.
Frankly, this website's design has about reached its maximum usefulness. Soon, you can expect a slightly improved layout and perhaps a better, more regular update cycle.

Hello again all!
It has been far too long. Things are not that busy, but we are preparing to move. We will be moving to Minnesota at the end of September.
Eleanor is 9 months old. She's 27 inches long and 17# 10 ounces. She's able to stand, pulling herself up and holding onto objects. She has the most wonderful time just exploring our apartment with its growing fields of boxes boxes boxes!
Since last updating this site, many many things have happened. A new friend, Leif Hausken was born on May 30 in Olivia, MN. His parents, Matt & Sarah are Eleanor's baptismal sponsors. Kelgrin was put to sleep on May 30 due to her advanced age and health problems. There was an Olsen Family Reunion in Spearfish and Piedmont over June 21-23 and Eleanor got to meet many wonderful relatives. Eleanor was baptized on June 28 in Olivia, just one day before Jon & Leann were sponsors for Leif. We're growing quite a family-- from blood relatives, marriages and the close ties to our many friends.
One of our great blessings is that Screamin' E likes to sleep all through the night, and has done so almost without fail since January. There was a brief period when she was ill and her schedule was thrown off that she didn't accomplish this feat-- up an' hollerin' almost four hours straight a couple nights one week. We worked through that period and she's sleeping great.
She eats fairly well, having expanded her repetoire of food/body paints to include pears, peaches, apples, mangoes, green beans, peas, carrots, pasta, oats, millet, tofu, milk, cottage cheese, formula, adzuki beans, nectarines, plums, bananas, watermelon, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and more I'm probably forgetting.
We traveled to the Twin Cities in June and July and Eleanor got to go to a pool for the first time. She's crazy about the water! Since then we've visited beautiful Iron Creek Lake near Spearfish, SD and she's enjoyed the swimming there too.
So, now it's back to packing and planning many more web updates. There's a LOT of photos to develop and scan...sorry it takes so long.

Greetings Friends and Family!
I know it's been a long time since I posted anything to this site, but we are busy. Eleanor is growing and learning every day so there's little time for posting every little thing to her website. So here are the highlights.
Six months have gone by already. In some ways it seems to have gone fast, but in other ways how could it? She has accomplished so much, at least in her parent's eyes. We are awed every day by her small wonders. Maybe six weeks ago she decided that she didn't want to lie on her blanket and play. She wanted to sit up so I put her in the Boppy pillow. Now it seems like the Boppy is getting in her way. It's hard to find the right balance between protecting her from falls and letting her explore.
We took our first family vacation in April. Loaded up the car and headed east. It was a full itinerary. First we drove to Sioux Falls and stayed over with the Hookers. Eleanor had a great time with her cousins. I think they had a pretty good time too because they just kept bringing her more and more toys! =) Next we stopped in Jackson and visited Jon's Aunt and Uncle, Eleanor and Bob. It was such a joy to see them with our little Eleanor and she was happy to visit with them too. Later that day we arrived in Minneapolis at Grandma and Grandpa's house. There were a lot of things to do and people to see while we were in town. For the most part she was very happy to be out and about and meeting new people. I think we tired her out because she started sleeping all night again without a peep. We tried to take lots of pictures of her with the family. Hopefully there will be a lot of good ones to put up here, but we haven't developed them yet. When it was finally time to leave we went to Olivia, MN to see our good friends the Hauskens. The next day we stopped in Marshall for just a few minutes where Grandma Amy got to meet her 33rd great-grandchild. All in all it was a wonderful trip and we look forward to seeing everyone again.
Another milestone for parent and child:Eleanor has started solid food and I have ventured into the world of homemade baby food. We are both having a great time. So far we have just tried a few things, but I am eager to try more foods. She enjoys playing with the sippy cup as well, but most of the liquid ends up in her bib pocket!
I could probably bore you with a million other details of her daily development, but it's probably only fascinating to us!

Well you haven't heard from me in a while. Sorry everyone, but I have been busy!
While I "consulted" on three productions over the past year, I just actively participated in my first theatrical production. I was Associate Producer for Much Ado About Nothing at Matthews Opera House in January. I attended almost all the rehearsals. I did take a week off to visit Grandma and Grampa in Minneapolis. I met a lot of new friends too and some more family. It was exciting. In fact it was SO exciting I couldn't sleep even after I came back home! (I'm sleeping more now. Mom seems to like it)
What else? I have been spending a lot more time with just Daddy. Mommy is in another play so Daddy and I have been hanging out together in the evenings. We have a pretty good time, but it was a little hard for me to get used to. I loved going to rehearsals! It was great! I loved watching the actors especially when they were loud. I tried complaining to Daddy. I thought maybe he'd take me out somewhere, but I guess he couldn't all the time. He broke his leg in January and so he wasn't able to carry me around for a while. He gets his cast off this week. I hope he feels better soon.
That's about it for now. I am just busy growing and growing. I went to the doctor this morning. I weigh 15lbs and 8oz now and am 24.5 inches tall. That was the good part. Then came the shots. Can't say I like those at all, but Mommy says no one does. I have also learned how to roll over, but I don't do it all the time. I haven't done it for a while, bgut maybe I will roll over some today. Depends on how I feel.
That's all for now! Lin Lin signing off!

email from Aunt Kristin
"He grows with his first daughter, learning as they go. He feels with her - each restlessness. each fear, each pain. She laughs and he is overjoyed. She reaches out her little arms to him and he rejoices. She sleeps on his shoulder and he does not move, for fear of waking her. He shows her marvels and lives her astonishment in a bird and cat and falling leaf. He asks for kisses. Hugs. The invisible gifts that she bestows on those she loves - held carefully between minute thumb and finger. He fields her as she falls. Wraps her against the cold. Dries her from her bath. Boasts casually to friends of her achievements. Hoards photographs in case he should forget. All disappointments, all failures, fade like mist before this golden girl. His daughter.
