I'm not sure who took this photo, but it's of
Tim Ruzicki and me
at the 1997 run.

The following collection of photos comes from Labor Day weekend during the 2000 run of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

These photos were taken with a Sigma SA-5 SLR camera, switching between 28-105mm and 100-300mm lenses. The negatives were then scanned with a Minolta Dimage film scanner. It was my first outing with the camera, and in truth the beginning of my more serious pursuit of photography.

I should mention that I've toned down the quality of my original scans for the sake of size and download time. I also didn't always take the time to fix all of the nicks that inevitably appear when scanning negatives. If you are interested in obtaining a higher resolution copy of any of these photos, please drop me an email [ferretATwasteDOTorg] and I'll do what I can for you.

I began my first year as a participant after graduating from the 1995 Academy Class. During, the first three years I held an entertainment contract as well as working the Front Gate. Even though I'm usually clad in Scottish Nobility (read "Nancy Boy") garb, I'M NOT SCOTTISH! I just went to a Scottish college, and it kind of stuck. My third year [1997] I had the great fortune of being a part of the City Militia, but then I moved to Boston in the fall of 1998. (Initially my plan had been to return each Labor Day weekend until everyone I wanted to visit had given up the Festival Life. The only problem was that every year I visited, I met new folks that I really looked forward to seeing again the next year.) Late in the summer of 2001, I moved back to the Twin Cities, and when I visited during first weekend, I had a contract before I got past the gate. ("I don't know what happened. Todd talked fancy to me and suddenly my name was on a contract!")
