Lyrics:
Pigs on the wing (part one)
Dogs
Pigs (3 different ones)
Sheep
Pigs on the wing (part two)
Pigs on the wing (part one)
If you didn't care what happened to me
And I didn't care for you
We would zig zag our way through the bordem and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing

Dogs
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when your on the street
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You got to strike when the moment is right without thinking

And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like a club tie, and a firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it's going to get harder and harder and harder as you get older
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer

And when you loose control,
You'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the feaar grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down, alone
Dragged down by the stone
I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I am just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off
This creeping malaise
If I don't stand on my own ground,
How can I find my own way out of this maze?

Deaf dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend
And it seems to you that the thing to do
Would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you belive at heart everyone's a killer

Who was bornin a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from that pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

Pigs (Three different ones)
Big man, pig man, ha ha charade you are
You well healed big wheel, ha ha charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
Your nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "Keep on diging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When your down in the pig mine
Your nearly a laugh
Your nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry

Bus stop rat bag, ha ha charade you are
You fucked up old hag, ha ha charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
Your nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
Your nearly a laugh
Your nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry

Hey you, Whitehouse, ha ha charade you are
You house pround town mouse, ha ha charade you are
You're trying to keep our feeling off the street
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
.....! .....! .....! .....!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry

Sheep
Harmlessly passing your time in the grasslands away
Only dimly aware of a certan unease in the air
You better watch out
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Jordan and I have seen
Things are not what they seem

What do you get for pretending the danger's not real
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
What a suprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes
Now things are really what they seem
No, this is not a bad dream

The lord is my shepard, I shall not want
He makes me down to lie
Through pastures green he leadeth me the silent waters by
With bright knives he releaseth my soul
he maketh me to hang on hooks in high places
He converteth me to lamb cutlets
For lo, he hath great power, and great hunger
When cometh the day we lowly ones
Through quiet reflection and great dedication
Master the are of karate
Lo, we shall rise up
And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water

Bleating and babbling I fell on his neck with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March Cheerfull out of obscurity into a dream

Have you herd the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as your told
Get out of the road if you want to grow old

Pigs on the Wing (Part Two)
You know that I care what happens to you
And I know that you care for me
So I don't feel alone
or the weight of the stone
Now that I've found somewheresafe
To bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog need a home
A shelter from pigs on the wing

The song "Dogs" was originally written
with the title "You gotta be crazy".
The song "Sheep" was originally titled
"Raving and Drooling".
They were supposed to appear on the album
Wish You Were Here. However, because
of internal strife the songs were abandoned.

In an interview after the release of
Wish You Were Here:

"There were a couple of other songs"

"Yeah. 'Raving and Drooling' and
'You've Gotta be Crazy.' 'Raving and
drooling was something I'd written at
home. Dave came up with a nice chord
sequence, I wrote some words, and we
carried on from there with 'You Gotta
be crazy.'"

"It was then decided that these
songs would be that basis for the
forthcoming album?"

"Yes, that was the idea for a long
time... while we did that tour. When
did things change? When we got to the
studio. January '75. We started
recording and it got very laborious and
tortured, and everybody seemed to be
very bored with the whole thing."
-Roger Waters

"...Pink Floyd, star-tripping hevyweight
of space rock, has moved into the
barnyard for 'Animals' and mated it's
headphone-designed rock with orwell's
'Animal Farm' fantasy. Call the result
beastiality. To be sure, Floyd has crafted
an album ideal for sharing with a potent
joint of Columbian - lots of reverberating
voices and guitars - but the trite lyrical
execution, punctured by oinks and barks, is
for the birds. 'Dogs' unleashes the best
melody in an album otherwise devoid of
sustaining substance." - Playboy, June 1977

"I wonder how many Pink Floyd fans return
home after a Concert, go into their closets
and quietly hang themselvs.

For the Floyd produce the most persuasively,
unremittingly pessimistic music avalable. If
the world isn't a machine serviced by humanoid
robots, in the Floyd's view, it's an abbatoir
fed by humanoid animals.

The groups preformances at Wembleyare proving
they can still envelop their audance in a
musical experance no other band can come
close to.

SOme of the Floyd's imitators in the free form
instrumental field may be more acomplished
musicians, but none creates so vivid a picture
of modern life.

The nihilism of 'Animals' their new album is
overpowering. We are all Dogs, Pigs, or Sheep,
and nbone of can do any more than make a
pretence of being a higher species.

On Wembley stage, the group put over this
unpalatable message with their customary cold
detachment, suggesting, us usual, that they
were casting perals before swine.

densely dramatic, the Floyd's music records
mankind's self machinisation or self
animalisation, take your pick.

If that seems a little hevyweight for
rock 'n' roll let me explain that this band has
little to do with the American blues / rock
tradition. Though they use the same insturments,
the Floyd have left behind the direct, romantic,
story-telling type of music that most people want
to hear when they turn on the radio.

The Floyd's more abstract constructions are no less
emotional, though. Slowly building and building
like 'Shine on you Crazy Dimond' reaches a killing
climax.

The song sheep containd a "hidden verse". The verse
in italic font in the lyrics listing. I say it is
because of the way it was recorded. The lyrics are
very hard to hear, and it is unlikely you would know
you were hearing them if you werent listening for them.
However, a closer listen with a lyrics sheet will clearly
reveal their presance.

There are other "hidden" and backwards messages I have
found or had shown to me. For more information, go to the
Hidden messages page in my archive, or start listening
very closely. If you find any thing I don't have in this
archive, please let me know.

Happy hunting!
