------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A discography of releases from Skinny Puppy, Download and most(*) related
projects, including remix/production work, collaborations, and appearances
by Skinny Puppy members on other artist's releases.

(*) This discography does not include information on Images In Vogue, the
band to which cEVIN Key belonged (as Kevin Crompton) before forming Skinny
Puppy. It also does not include Front Line Assembly, who have advanced well
beyond being a "Skinny Puppy spin-off". For more information on FLA, visit
http://www.industrial.net/fla on the World Wide Web.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Skinny Puppy formed in 1983 with an original line-up of cEVIN Key (Kevin
Crompton, at that time a member of Images in Vogue) and Nivek Ogre (Kevin
Ogilvie). They were joined early on by Wilhelm Schroder who left in 1986
and became Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly. They were then joined by
Dwayne Goettel, who remained a member until the band split up on June 12,
1995.

After the break-up, Ogre went to work on the W.E.L.T. project, while cEVIN
and Dwayne formed Subconscious Studios (a name first used by Dwayne for the
release of a solo single two years earlier) and intended to continue working
together, along with long time Puppy producer David Ogilvie and others, on
projects such as Download and Tear Garden. These plans were cut short when
Dwayne died of a heroin overdose on August 23, 1995. Despite this tragic turn
of events, cEVIN has continued work on these projects and others, many
including the contributions of his close friend Mark Spybey (ex-Zoviet
France, now of Dead Voices On Air).

A "x" next to a line of release information indicates that it is, to the
best of my knowledge, out of print. (Note: That doesn't necessarily mean
that the release is totally unavailable, just that it is no longer being
produced.)

BACK AND FORTH
      x CS 1983 independent CA

Sleeping Beast / K-9 / Quiet Solitude / The Pit / Dead of Winter /
Meat Flavour / Edge of Insanity

        Notes:
Initially planned to be a limited edition of 50 copies, although
only 35 copies were officially made (15 hand dubbed, 20 high speed
dubbed). However, there were at least 15 more copies (numbered 36
through 50) produced, possibly by Bill Leeb. It's quite likely that
        additional bootleg copies also exist.

These tracks appear in a remastered form on BACK AND FORTH SERIES
        TWO (listed below).

Choke / Social Deception / Basement / Last Call / Film

        Notes:
This is the order the tracks appear on the album. The cover lists
the track "Film" as appearing on the end of Side Attack (side 1)
        after "Icebreaker".

The track "Icebreaker" that appears on this (and most other)
editions of BITES is made up of the first 30 seconds of the
track "Manwhole" edited together with the track "Ice Breaker",
both originally on REMISSION (listed above).

The 1985 edition included a full colour Nettwerk calendar/catalog
        insert.

"WEVE GOT THE TASTE" refers to the Tina Turner sample (taken from
a Diet Pepsi commercial) that appears in "Assimilate (r23)".

"SHEPPARD WASHES THE BLOOD" is a reference to Toronto DJ and long

Love in Vein / Killing Game / Knowhere? / Mirror Saw / Inquisition /
Scrapyard / Riverz End / Lust Chance / Circustance / Download

        Notes:
This album was originally intended to have 11 tracks, but the song
which was supposed to be the 10th track, "Left Hand Shake", had to
be dropped due to problems getting the rights to use some samples
of Timothy Leary speaking. (From the notes of cEVIN Key - "Sample
from 'Tune In Turn On'. Permission denied from Henry G. Saperstein,
owner of copyright - but Leary granted permission, so what do you
do?") Rumours that the track would be released as a bootleg single
sided 7" were unfounded, but the track was later released on the
Internet as a sound file, and appears on the unofficial cassette
release AIN'T ENOUGH DAMN PUPPY (listed below). Versions also
appear on the European edition of BRAP: BACK & FORTH SERIES 3+4
and on the bootleg release INTOLERANCE.

The Canadian CD release has 10 tracks on the disc, while the US disc
has 11 with the 10th track being 0:00 long. In both cases,
"Circustance" is labelled track 9 on the cover, and "Download" is
        labelled track 11.

Early releases of the US version of the CD had a pressing glitch
that caused everything on the disc to be shifted 39 seconds too
early (i.e. the first 39 seconds of "Love in Vein" were missing,
"Killing Game" started 39 seconds before the first track on the CD
ended, etc., and "Download" ended with 39 seconds of silence). This
glitch was repaired, leading to a second pressing that included
a sticker reading "Quality Controlled Skinny Puppy".

The US release has the ornate lettering by cover designer Jim Cummins
(aka I, Braineater) replaced with plain white text.

The 1994 Music Master CD catalog from the UK gives the following
track listing for this release, which appears to be the working
titles for what eventually became this album:

        Hinder / Killing Game / Cancelled / Xception / Catbowl / Hurtful 2 /
        Rivers End / Fester / Premonition / Wrek / Epilogue 2

The North American edition and the second German edition are

The only Nettwerk-era video missing from this collection is
"Worlock", presumably for copyright reasons since the video consists
almost entirely of scenes from various horror movies.

        Notes:
The track listing above is as it appears on the disc cover. However,
it appears that it is almost completely wrong, as peterg@cid.syr.edu
        (Drugg Pico) reports the following:

The Live 1988 tracks - "Smothered Hope", "Assimilate", "The Choke" and
"Addiction" - are all taken from the official live release AIN'T IT
        DEAD YET.

"A Perfect Simulation" is actually "Choralone (Live in Houston)" from
        the SPASMOLYTIC CD5".

"Incision", "Icebreaker", "Christianity", "Glass Houses" and "Falling"
are not demos but the regular versions.

"Addiction (demo)" is the dog house mix from NETTWERK SOUND SAMPLER 2.

Only the Live 1986 tracks (and possibly the Bill Leeb track) are
properly credited. The 1986 tracks are from the same show as the
        FRACTAL ZOOM bootleg listed above.

        CS 1995 Smothered-Hope List US

Choralone (live at the Riv, Chicago, Nov/90) / Get Down (Revolting
        Cocks w/Ogre) / Razor's Edge (Revolting Cocks w/Ogre) / Noreen
(W.E.L.T.) / Left Hand Shake / interview with cEVIN on VIVIsectVI /
Brave New Waves Session (live performance, CBC Radio, Sept/86)

        Notes:
A collection of Puppy (and Puppy-related) "rarities" compiled by
members of smothered-hope, the Skinny Puppy discussion mailing list
on the Internet. This release was vaguely OKed by Ogre, but should
still be considered "semi-official" at best, a "bootleg" at worst.

"Noreen" is not listed on the cover, but is listed on the tape shell
        and appears on the tape.

Tin Omen / Worlock / VX Gas Attack / Second Tooth / Left-Hand Shake
        / Testure / Left-Hand Shake (studio remix) / Stairs & Flower / Cage
        / Tin-Omen

        Notes:
The first six tracks were recorded live in Miami, probably on the
LAST RIGHTS tour in 1992. The last three tracks appear to be the
same as the regular versions despite the slightly misspelled titles.

        1986) / Glass Houses (demo 1986)

        Notes:
This is a bootleg release. Considering the similarity in title to
the error-ridden Skinny Puppy bootleg LAND OF TECHNOLOGY (listed
above), it's safe to assume that the tracks listed as being "demo"
        versions probably are not.

"Christianity" is likely the same version as on BITES.
"Ice Breaker" and "Glass Houses" are likely the same versions as
             found on REMISSION.

                             PART 2: DOWNLOAD

Download sprang from late night informal jam sessions started in 1994 by
cEVIN, Dwayne, Mark Spybey (of Dead Voices On Air) and DJ Philth (Phil
Western). The first album and EP featured this line-up as well as guest
Genesis P-Orridge (Psychic TV). Following Dwayne's death, Philth left the
project, but has since rejoined for the 1996 world tour and will likely
appear on future recordings. The core line-up, however, is cEVIN & Mark.

                           >>>  LEE CHUBBY KING  <<<

A one-off project featuring cEVIN, Al Nelson (Hilt vocalist), and Lee Salford
(ex-Section 25 drummer) doing a hilarious rap parody (or IS it a parody?...).
According to cEVIN, "(L.C.K. performed) one live show which resulted in Al
Nelson getting punched out 'for lyrical content'."

Industrial-dance "supergroup" that often features Ogre as a part of its
rotating line-up. For the sake of space and to avoid repeating the work
of Andrij Kopytko (ogre@netaxs.com), who maintains the Pigface Discography,
I haven't listed any Pigface releases here. For more information, contact
           Andrij or visit http://dax.cs.wisc.edu/~gnat/pigface/

                           >>>  MUTUAL MORTUARY  <<<

Ogre and Bill Leeb recorded several tracks under this name while Leeb was
still a member of Skinny Puppy. Only two of these tracks were ever released:
"Hateless Insanity" and "Shadow Gods". They both appeared on installments of
the INSANE MUSIC FOR INSANE PEOPLE series of cassette compilations released
                                   in Belgium.

This collaboration between Ogre, William Rieflin (Ministry, RevCo) and Mark
Walk was formed especially for the Wire tribute project as detailed below.

                                >>>  RAW DOG  <<<

Ogre and David & Rosie Ogilvie. It's possible that this track is the result
of work that the three did together for an animal rights benefit in 1987,
although the name given for the planned project at that time was AFTERMATH.

                                 >>>  VOICE  <<<

This Edmonton based band was originally called Office and featured Dwayne as
a member before he moved to Vancouver and joined Skinny Puppy. Before joining
Office, Dwayne was a member of The Pinstripe Club with the Huss brothers, who
became known as Psyche after Dwayne left.

                                >>>  W.E.L.T.  <<<

W.E.L.T. (When Everyone Learns the Truth) was originally announced during
the time of Ogre's work with Ministry (1989/90) as a collaboration between
Ogre and Al Jorgensen. After Skinny Puppy's "falling out" with Jorgensen, it
then became a project featuring Ogre, Paul Raven (of Killing Joke/Murder
Inc.), Chris Sheppard (a Toronto DJ), and others. This line-up also fell
apart. No W.E.L.T. material has been released yet (except for the track
"Noreen" which appeared on the unofficial AIN'T ENOUGH DAMN PUPPY cassette,
listed in the SKINNY PUPPY section above), but the project is supposedly
still alive with the main members being Ogre and Mark Walk.
