The preferred way for users to login and to transfer files to WASTE is with SSH. SSH is a replacement for telnet, rlogin, and FTP that provides secure, encrypted access to shell sessions without risk of passwords and other important information being intercepted by third parties.
If you are behind a firewall that allows telnet sessions but not ssh sessions, you can point your ssh client to the telnet port (23) and talk to our ssh server there.
We recommend downloading one of these free SSH implementations:UNIX, Linux, MacOS X: OpenSSH
Windows: PuTTY,
iXplorer
SFTP,
Shaolin SFTP,
WinSCP (no source)
Mac (classic): MacSSH
DOS: sshdos
Amiga: You could, but why bother?
In a pinch, you can run our copy of Mindterm with a Java web browser to connect to WASTE (source is here).
