This project surgio to raiz of which it is little
what we know mayoria sobrela situation of the indigenas towns in the
state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
Much@s we did not listen to the shouts that come from the humble
communities between hills and the montanas from Oaxaca, or that we
become sord@s and we do not want to oir or the shouts todavia do not
have the force sufficient to make us listen. But the certain
thing is that these shouts exist, the certain thing is that much@s of
est@s indigenas estan fighting to demand their rights and to defend of
those who threaten to them, or the government or the ghost of the
Capitalism that today in day take chewed it of the neoliberalism.
Of this fight, of like and because and much but, it is
spoken in the "Communal one" and I@s that spoke is I@s miembr@s of
Popular the Indigena Council of Oaxaca "Ricardo Flowers indigena,
magonista Magon" (CIPO-RFM), one organizacion, that I am based on the
year 1997 and that it at the moment has to the thousands rededor of
three miembr@s.
I, European, güera as they say Here to me, have been visiting
between January and March of year 2003, in the context of an
international acompanamiento, eleven of deiciocho communities that
partly or of
everything estan organized in the CIPO-RFM. (By
lack of time lamentably it was not possible that all participated).
I have been coordinating and facilitating this project and me
entontre with a world that is worth the trouble to know, with much
generosity and fraternalidad and many desire to express itself, to
speak on the problems and of the fight like CIPO, of its own
traditions, uses and customs, of its culture like indigenas, the
history of the communities, of the conflicts, with many desire to
count the legend that tells to I@s abuelit@s. I have been with
many voices that deserve to be oidas. The idea of this project
did not go to give them to a voice to I@s indigen@s, because they have
it. What sometimes it is necessary is a microphono, nothing but.
I did not do this the "Communal one". His escritor@s and
pintor@s are men, indigenas women and nin@s that in his mayoria as
soon as they know to write. But who serious able to speak of a
direct way but and I authenticate on its situation that ell@s mism@s,
I@s that estan it living?
I have been approximately one week in each community and every
time first that we did was a general assembly with tod@s I@s miembr@s
of the CIPO, in which they have been defined of
communitarian way the subjects that were going away to
treat. We made another assembly in the end to comment and to
approve the produced thing.
In the intermediate days it has been written and drawn, often in
some and work groups individually. In this way around of 200
people they have participated in a direct way in the "Communal one"
and it is possible to be spoken of many but considering that in some
communities, in where they are demasiad@s to write and to draw tod@s,
the general assembly I name commissions in charge to make the work and
to soon expose it before the assembly. Where somebody nonwise to
speak to espanol, we have found other that they sabian to translate.
Where habia companer@s that does not sabian to write, has
dictated what they querian to express to my or otr@s that if they
sabian.
But each translation changes (you want or not) the counted
thing. And the fact that a text is dictated, implies in certain
degree I engage in a dialog on the same one, making the person that
writes questions or requesting that something is described but clear
or detailed. Ademas of which aiming not always it is possible to
write so all and as was said. By this it has been written down
underneath each text since one became, and I believe that it is
important to mention these data.
I have spoken of authenticity, and I have done to you although I
do not believe that the situation absolutely authenticates exists.
As serious? Each situation has a concrete context in which
it is located and that determines what it are expressed. It is
necessary to know the circumstances to be able to value.
Already the fact of my presence as foreign and person of a
different culture has influenced enough in the results.
I have proposed subjects, on which they are podrian to write
and often it has been decided on the subjects with base in these
proposals, having anadiendo other own ones and making specific them.
(I have naturally not tried, never, to force nothing).
Also we have spoken on texts when they even were in process.
Sometimes I have taken part when a nonwise work group like
beginning or following. When pense that something tendria that
to explain but detailed so that an other people's person could
understand to it, I have said it.
The degree of my intervention has varied of community to
community, of work group to work group, but what always tries it went
to help to express and not to manipulate with my interpretations which
queria to say itself.
Espanol is not the maternal language of I@s indigenas and this
note in some texts, as much as the fact that much@s
they have not had nor the possibility of finishing the
primary one. The education levels (basica as as much politica)
varian much between the people and also between the communities.
I - that I have disenado the "Communal one" without having nor
idea of diseno- and I@s that have supported to me thought that there
is to respect the form to speak of the people and for that reason the
lack of ortografia and some phrases have been only corrected, if we
considered that it was necessary to make it to understand them, hoping
that this way the "Communal one" is what wants to be:

Muchisimos texts has been written in these two months, a great
amount of drawings has become and before beginning with this project
nobody habia imagined that they podian to be so many. All appear
in the "Communal one".
It is had counted, written and drawn on a great variety of
subjects. But the fact that in each community people have
written or drawn on which she I consider as but the important thing
also implies that some things are repeated and that others lack.
Not to repeat itself too much sometimes I have mentioned in the
general assembly that on certain things already habia spoken in other
communities.
The situations in mOchas communities are similar (although, for
example, the one of Santa Cruz Huatulco as turistico center is
completely different from the other communities) and some
problematicas can be generalized, although in mayoria of texts it has
been written of a very concrete way on the problems of each community.
The caida one of the price of cafe, for example, affects great
mayoria of the communities. The lack of basicos services as
those of health or transport are other problems that affect many.
This project is an experiment, is an idea that we tried to make
reality, although nobody of I@s that we have participated jamas made
something similar. Surely it has failures, are many things that
are podian to do better, but we hoped that it can give a pequena image
of which they estan living I@s indigenas in Oaxaca.
The fight Here needs our support and our solidarity. We
must connect the fights that are estan taking I finish in the
different corners from the world, since in the end she is a single
one. Sol@s we are not going to be able ningun @ against this
monster of opresivo, authoritarian and discriminativo system.
